Levada do Caldeirão Verde

A Journey into Madeira’s Green Wonderland

One of the island’s most spectacular levada walks, this trail takes us from Ilha steadily uphill to the Levada. Along the way, we pass waterfalls, tunnels, and breathtaking viewpoints before reaching the stunning Caldeirão Verde—a massive natural basin, 70–80 meters wide, surrounded by towering 100-meter cliffs covered in lush ferns and moss, with waterfalls cascading down its walls.

On the way back, we visit the traditional Casa de Colmo in Santana.
