On the Levada do Furado from Ribeiro Frio to Portela pass
This 11 km trail takes you along one of Madeira’s oldest public levadas, starting at Ribeiro Frio. Before setting off, we take a short detour to the Balcões viewpoint, where breathtaking mountain views await.
As we follow the Levada do Furado, the lush Laurissilva forest surrounds us, revealing deep valleys, dramatic gorges, and the striking agricultural landscapes of Faial, São Roque do Faial, and Porto da Cruz. The towering Penha d’Águia completes the scene with its imposing presence.
Our adventure ends at Portela Pass, after approximately 5 hours of walking. Hotel transfers are included for a hassle-free experience!
