Your Hiking Vacation Itinerary
Day 1: Bem Vindo à Madeira
Welcome to Madeira! We pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel in Funchal. In the evening, meet your guide and fellow hikers over a relaxed introduction.
Day 2: Botanical Garden & Funchal City Tour
Explore Madeira’s Botanical Garden, home to over 2,000 plant species, and take in panoramic views over Funchal. Stroll through the charming old town, visit the market hall, taste tropical fruits, and experience Portuguese coffee culture with sweet queijadas. Enjoy a Madeira wine tasting, then the afternoon is yours to explore.
Day 3: Volcanic Landscapes & Whales
Hike through the dramatic volcanic terrain of Madeira’s Eastern Cape, where colorful tuff and basalt rock formations tell the island’s geological story. After a delicious seafood lunch, visit the Whale Museum to learn about Madeira’s whaling history and marine life.

Day 4: The Trout Levada & Balcões Viewpoint

Day 5: The Old Wine Route
Hike along an unforgettable coastal trail with breathtaking views of Porto Santo. Enjoy a glass of poncha, the island’s national drink, before dining at a local favorite restaurant.

Day 6: Madeira’s Summit Hike
Start at Pico Arieiro (1,818 m) and hike along a breathtaking mountain ridge, passing Pico das Torres and Pico do Gato, before reaching Madeira’s highest peak, Pico Ruivo (1,862 m). After this iconic hike, visit the traditional Casas de Colmo and enjoy a well-deserved meal.

Day 7: Free Day in Funchal
Enjoy a leisure day exploring Funchal. Ride the cable car to Monte, experience a thrilling basket sled ride, or take a Tukxi tour to Câmara de Lobos. We’ll provide plenty of ideas for your perfect day.
Day 8: Adeus Madeira
It’s time to say goodbye! We’ll transfer you to the airport or your next hotel for an extended stay.
